Genital wart or HVP wart appears in the genital and anal area of a person. This kind of wart is transmitted sexually and is set off by a virus called human papilloma virus or HPV. Colposcopy can also be used to see the lesions. In women, colposcopy is especially necessary if warts are suspected to grow in the vaginal canal. A Pap smear can also detect growth of genital warts. When warts keep on reappearing despite treatments, patients may have to undergo biopsy to be able to examine the lesion further. A series of laboratory tests may also be required to determine whether an HPV infection is present.
